Detailed Description

Richard is a chartered civil engineer, with a background in geotechnical engineering, who has been working exclusively on contaminated land and brownfield development projects for the past 25 years.

Richard is the leader of Arup’s contaminated land group in London and prior to joining Arup, he was a Principal with Dames & Moore (now URS). Richard has provided specialist consultancy advice on numerous building, site redevelopment, infrastructure and master-planning projects, through the planning, design and construction phases. He has also undertaken many due diligence investigations for commercial and industrial properties and portfolios. He has also provided expert advice in litigation and planning inquiries.

Richard drafted British Standards on ground investigation (BS10175 and BS5930), Highways Agency guidance and specifications on contaminated land investigation (DMRB), and Department of Environment guidance on gas protection to buildings.
