Championing Competence: The SiLC Employers Scheme Welcomes Its First Members

We are delighted to announce the launch of the SiLC Employers Scheme, a new initiative designed to formally recognise organisations that employ and invest in registered Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) professionals.

As the UK accelerates planning reform and brownfield redevelopment, the need for demonstrable competence and professionalism in land condition has never been greater. The SiLC Employers Scheme offers a clear, independent quality mark—acknowledging employers who are committed to raising standards across the industry.

We are proud to welcome AtkinsRéalis as the latest company to join the scheme, alongside our founding members RSK Group, Igne, and Arcadis. These forward-thinking organisations are leading the way in embedding quality and trusted expertise at the heart of their environmental and development services.

“It’s not enough that SiLCs exist—they need to be valued and used appropriately,” says Louise Beale, Chair of the SiLC Professional and Technical Panel. “This scheme is about recognising those employers who are doing just that.”

Why the Employers Scheme Matters

  • ✅ Gain a respected industry quality mark
  • ✅ Demonstrate your commitment in tenders and proposals
  • ✅ Show regulators, clients, and stakeholders that you prioritise competence

By joining, employers align themselves with a growing movement committed to driving standards, trust, and transparency in brownfield redevelopment.

A huge thank you to Arcadis, RSK Group, Igne, and now AtkinsRéalis—the first four companies to sign up and champion this initiative.
