Excavated materials – reuse, recycle, recover, dispose or extract?

Time until webinar:

Date: 28 January 2026 11.00am - 1.00pm

Duration: 2hr

We’re pleased to announce that the Excavated materials – reuse, recycle, recover, dispose or extract? webinar will take place on Wednesday 28th January 2026 (11-1pm) at a cost of £45 inc VAT and £35 inc VAT for registered SiLCs.

(to register as a SiLC please email silc@silc.org.uk)

When is a bucket excavator load of excavated material a product and when is it a waste?

The material may be in the wrong place or it may be wanted more somewhere else. The end result is the same – a hole at the point of origin and a location for using the bucket load.

So why do we call one bucket load primary aggregate and the other “waste”?

Would a circular approach require changes in primary legislation or better use of existing laws?

Join SiLC as we dig deeper into the regulatory quagmire of excavated material regulation and imagine a smarter future.
